Pune: A 52-year-old woman lost over Rs 2.46 lakh in debit card swapping after her ATM card was swapped by an unidentified person at State Bank of India ATM on Tilak Road on Saturday. A case of cheating has been lodged at Swargate police station by complainant Usha Mandikunt.

According to the Swargate police, Usha left the ATM at around 11.30 am after withdrawing the cash. While she was coming out of the ATM, an unidentified person asked for her help. The unidentified person diverted the complainant’s attention and asked for new notes. At the same time, the unidentified person also swapped the complainant’s debit card. Later, the complainant was informed by her husband that Rs 2.46 lakh has been withdrawn from their bank account from June 16 to 18. 

Following the incident, the complainant approached the Swargate police and lodged a case of cheating. The Swargate police are investigating the case. The police said that such fraudsters are active from Pune station to Katraj area and that people must be alert.
