Woman nabbed for jewellery theft

Pune: Sinhagad police arrested a woman on Tuesday for stealing gold ornaments from a BJP corporator’s house in Hingne. The police also arrested a jeweller who bought the stolen ornaments from the woman.

The accused was identified as Harsha Shitole (53), a resident of Hingne and the jeweller as Devray Revankar (65), a resident of Shaniwar Peth. Shitole is a history-sheeter. The police arrested her on the basis of CCTV grabs acquired from the locations on Sinhagad Road. 

According to the police, the theft occurred on May 7. Shitole entered the house as the door was open and made away with gold ornaments amounting to Rs 3.5 lakh.
