PUNE: A woman pedestrian died after being run over by a bus of the National Defence Academy (NDA) near Sassoon Hospital on Wednesday. 

The deceased has been identified as Surekha Subhash Nikalje (50). 

According to the police, the accident took place around 2.30 pm opposite Bundgarden police station. The woman was crossing the chowk when the speeding bus, coming from Central building side, knocked her down. She came under the wheels of the bus. The cops rushed her to Sassoon Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
