Youth defrauds roommate of Rs 1.92 lakh

Pune: A youth has been booked by officials of the Vimantal police station for allegedly stealing the debit and credit cards and the mobile phone of his room partner, and then withdrawing Rs 1.92 lakh from his account.

Akshay Mishra (26) of Vadgaon Sheri has filed a complaint against Anvesh Koneru in this regard. The incident took place on September 14. According to police officials, after the incident took place, the accused had locked the room from the outside while Mishra was still inside.

It took time for Mishra to suspect his room partner for the crime.  Mishra eventally filed a case against the accused on Sunday after the incident came to his notice. The Vimantal police have registered an FIR for offences under sections 420 (cheating), 380 (theft) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating further.
