ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: A 26-year-old youth lost his life after he fell along with his two-wheeler into a trench dug up for a railway overbridge near Manjari crossing on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Satish Dnyaneshwar Pise, a native of Shikrapur. The incident took place around 5.30 am.

According to Hadapsar police, Pise was going to meet his brother on Mohammadwadi Road. He fell into the 15 feet deep pit excavated for construction of a flyover. He died on the spot.

NCP’s State Vice-President Suresh Ghule and ex- MLA Mahadev Babar demanded registration of culpable homicide against the contractor and government department engaged in the construction of the flyover.
Nakul Ransing, Engineer, Public Works Department (PWD), said, “The contractor has been instructed to take care of traffic safety from time to time. We will make sure that it is not repeated in future.’’
