Youth gets 10 yrs RI for raping minor girl

PUNE: A special court on Monday sentenced a 23-year-old youth to 10 years’ Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for raping a minor girl in 2014.

Special judge AN Sirsikar also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on the convict Arjun Bhima Jadhav, a resident of Sanjay Park in Lohegaon. 

As per the police, Jadhav had called the seven-year-old girl to his house on November 1, 2014, and then raped her. The incident came to light after she informed her mother and grandmother, following which an FIR was registered against him with the Vimantal police station. 

Senior Police Inspector Dilip Shinde, in-charge of the police station, said that seven witnesses were examined by Public Prosecutor Arundhati Raskar to prove the guilt of the accused person. Assistant Sub-Inspector SN Bhongale, Head Constable Bhor and Woman Constable Jagtap  co-ordinated with the witnesses and complainant.
