Yukrand activists protest against Kakade

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: Yukrand activists again staged a protest in front of builder and MP Sanjay Kakade’s office at Ghole Road in Shivajinagar, on Monday, to demand justice for 15 displaced families of New Kopare village. Around 73 people, including activists and 15 affected families, marched from Fergusson College (FC) Road to Kakade’s office in the protest.

The protesters were detained minutes after they began their agitation near Kakade’s office by Deccan Police.

The protest was launched to demand full rehabilitation of the displaced villagers of New Kopare, whose lands were acquired by NDA way back in 1967.

They were supposed to be rehabilitated in a building project led by Kakade Group in Warje-Malwadi. However, there are around 54 families that have not yet received housing, and 15 of them are fighting along with Yukrand for their houses.
