PUNE: The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has found that about 80 per cent of the developers applying for an extension at MahaRERA are doing so as they were yet to receive Occupancy Certificate   (OC) even after completion of the project.

The information was shared by MahaRERA Secretary Vasant Prabhu, who was present in the city for a workshop of developers on issues faced by them related to MahaRERA, which was organised at Credai auditorium in Nucleus Mall, Camp, on Friday.

Around 200 developers from different parts of the State, along with officials of MahaRERA, were part of the workshop where developers raised concerns following the implementation of the RERA Act.

Prabhu said that he is in communication with the Urban Development Department and local governing bodies to find a solution to the problem. “We are aware of the issue. In many cases, the OC is not given to the developer as he has made modifications in his original plan,” said Prabhu.

Developers present for the workshop said that the moment they reach a sale figure of 51 per cent, they start getting e-mails from MahaRERA asking them to form the society but they find it difficult to do so, as they are asked for documents by the societies registrar.

Prabhu said that he is in talks with different society registrars and the issue will be sorted soon. Officials of MahaRERA asked the developers to register with MahaRERA and also pay annual fees of Rs 500 to update project details at MahaRERA website.

Prabhu also advised the developers to send e-mails to MahaRERA to solve their issues.
