Dabang Delhi draws against Gujarat

CHENNAI: Chandran Ranjit who started as substitute for Dabang Delhi came out with super show to draw the contest 32-32 against Gujarat Fortunegiants in Pro Kabaddi League Season 6 match at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday.

Ten points from Chandran not only brought Delhi back into contest but also earned 3 points for his team.

It was second draw in Zone A after Puneri Paltan and U Mumba drew their first match.

For Gujarat, Sachin was the top raider with scoring 7 points while Rohit Gulia and Sunil Kumar scored 5 and four points.

Delhi who was trailing 12-17 at half time regrouped nicely after coming back from break. Chandran who had 5 raid points before the break grew into confidence and kept scoring points. He got good support from Naveen Kumar (5 points) and substitutes Pawan Kadian and Viraj Langde scoring 3 and 2 points respectively.

Experienced campaigners Ravinder Pahal and, Joginder Narwal also scored three points each for Delhi.

In between Gujarat was helped by two super tackles which avoided ‘All Out’ till 35th minute.

With three minutes to go into the match and Gujarat leading 29-27, Delhi inflicted ‘All Out’ with score line reading 29-29. From their onwards both the teams played safe game and Delhi managed to drew a contest.

Last year’s runner up Gujarat started from where they left in Season 5. Their raiders started the collecting points from the third raid. Chennai boy K Prapanjan who is playing first time for Gujarat struck two points raid to put first points on the board for Gujarat outfit.

Gujarat kept scoring points on third raid, while their defender also did their job as they forced ‘All out’ over Delhi in the 7th minute with score line reading 9-3 in Gujarat’s favour.

Meraj Sheykh  from who was the lone player which was retained by Delhi began Season 6 on disappointing note with getting substitute in 12th minute. Meraj scored one tackle point before going out of the mat.

Best Defender: Sunil Kumar (Gujarat Fortunegiants, 4 points)
Best Raider: Chandran Ranjit (Dabang Delhi KC, 9 pts)
