Defending champs MP Academy regain hockey title

Pune: Defending champions Madhya Pradesh Academy continued their love affair with the city by bagging the 2nd SNBP All-India Hockey Tournament at Balewadi Sports Complex.

In the final, MP Academy effortlessly got past Saheed Bishan Singh School (SBSS), New Delhi 3-1, which was spearheaded by a triple strike by Hemam Amarjit.

The first half hat-trick by Hemam (3rd, 28th, 32nd) was enough for MP Academy to go home richer by Rs. 30,000.

MP Academy extended their domination in the tournament with an early strike which thereafter set the tone of the game.

Two more periodic strikes by Hemam ensured that MP Academy led 3-0 at the half way stage.

On resumption, SBSS boys who had a good tournament overall opened their account with Rohit pulling one back in the 40th minute.

Earlier, home team Krida Prabodhini salvage some pride defeating Hockey Coorg from Karnataka 1-0 to earn the third place.

Aditya Lalge second half 63rd minute strike turned out to be the decider.
Second placed SBSS, New Delhi earned Rs 20,000 for their effort, while Krida Prabodhini received Rs. 10,000 respectively.

Results:
Final: MP Academy 3 (Hemam Amarjit 3rd, 28th, 32nd) beat Saheed Bishan Singh School 1 (Rohit 40th). HT: 3-0
Third Place: Krida Prabodhini 1 (Aditya Lalge 63rd) beat Hockey Coorg 0. HT: 0-0

Player of the Tournament: Ali Ahmed (MP Academy)
Best Goalkeeper: Aditya Disane (Krida Prabodhini)
Best Defender: Shahid (Shaeed Bishan Singh Academy)
Best Half: Nikhil Joseph (Hockey Coorg)
Best Forward: Shreyas  Dhupe (MP Academy)
