Disha battles past Aashi

PUNE: Eightth seed Disha Lakhiani managed to win in a tie breaker against Aashi Chhajed 8-7 (5) in a hard fought match in the pre-quarterfinals of the Ravetkar Cup Solaris Club All India Ranking (Under-16) Championship Series Tennis Tournament in progress at Mayur Colony on Sunday.

Meanwhile Chinmayi Bagwe and Gargee Phule scored the biggest upsets of the day. Chinmayi Bagwe put on a good show as she defeated second seed Rishita Agarwal 8-2 while Gargee Phule defeated sixth seeded Trisha Misra with the score reading 8-1.

In other action, fourth seed Andrea Almeida beat Aditi Lakhe 8-4 while Aleena Shaikh beat Sanchita Nagarkar 8-3. In the boys second round action, top seed Tanishq Jadhav beat Prathemesh Patil 8-0.
