IPL 2021 Auction: Krishnappa Gowtham becomes the most expensive uncapped Indian player

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opened the bidding for Gowtham at his base price of Rs 20 lakh but was eventually picked by CSK for Rs 9.25 cr.

Karnataka all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham created history on Thursday by the most expensive uncapped Indian player in IPL players’ auction history. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opened the bidding for Gowtham at his base price of Rs 20 lakh but was eventually picked by CSK for Rs 9.25 cr.

The 32-year-old is known for his six-hitting ability with the domestic circle. He also can produce short off-spin spells in between the overs. In his IPL 2018, he scored 126 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of 196.

While he has previously played for two IPL teams – Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab - before 2020, this will be his first stint with CSK.

Apart from Gowtham, CSK also bought Moeen Ali and Cheteshwar Pujara in this year’s IPL auction.
