Kavya trumps Aditi to enter next round

Pune: Kavya Krishnan of the Lexicon International School was in prime form as she moved into the next round of Sakal presents Mapro Schoolympics girls under 14 tennis event here on Monday.

In an event held at Deccan Gymkhana courts, Kavya was in fine shape as she put variety of shots on display against St Joseph High School’s Aditi Harip, winning 6-2 in just more than 20 minutes.

Ruma Gaikaiwari, Gautami Khaire and Ira Shah were other participants in the event, who ended up notching up one-sided wins.

DES Secondary School’s Ruma hardly put a foot wrong as she thrashed Aleena Shaikh of the Bishops’ Co-Ed School 6-0 in under 15 minutes. Ruma was aggressive from the outset and attacked Aleena’s serve ferociously, breaking it thrice in matter of 10 minutes.

Ira Shah of St Mary’s High School was equally potent against Rajlaxmi Desai of St Anne’s High School as she too didn’t let Rajlaxmi win a single game in 6-0 mauling. Ira enters next round full of confidence after her clinical performance left Rajlaxmi with no answer.
