Lions, Freekick, FCPC, Mathew FA enter U-14 semis

Pune: Hosts Freekick Football Academy ‘A’, Lions FA and FC Pune City scored one-sided wins, while Mathew FA ‘A’ struggled before making it to the semi-finals of the Under-14 section in the Freekick Cup Inter-Academy 5-a-side Football Tournament at its home turf at Baner-Balewadi on Friday.

In the only match that went down to the wire, Mathew FA  ‘A’ and CISK ‘A’ played out a 0-0 draw in regular time before Kshitij Kokate scored to help Mathew Academy advance.

In the other matches, FC Pune City (FCPC) led by Mohit Merani (3) got past Sonba Raiders 4-0.  

Neil Sudarshan was the other scorer.

Later, Lions FA inflicted a 4-1 defeat over Football Arena with Ketan Babu and Tanishk Gore scoring a brace each. Hardik Bugde reduced the margin for Football Arena.

Host’s Freekick FA ‘A’ brushed aside Sanghvi FC 3-1 to complete the line-up Akshay Shukla (2) and Tanav Metkar accounted for the tally for the winners. Sanghvi FC had Riddesh Patil reduce the margin.
