Loyola School takes home Under-17 title

Pune: Loyola School defeated St Mary’s School 54-49 to clinch the Under 17 boys title in the Inter School District Basketball Tournament at Deccan Gymkhana on Saturday.

In the high scoring match, combined effort from Atharva Kogane - 20 points,  Shamit Pathak -  9 and Arya Itkayal - 8 helped Loyola to score a 4-point victory.
St Mary’s boys rode high on the performance from Armaan Mali and Adhviat Chalke, who scored 24 and 20 points respectively but ended on the losing side. 

Match turned out to be a hard fought contest right from the start as St Mary’s were leading with three points at half time with the score of 23-20. After half time, Loyola scored baskets briskly to walk home with the trophy.

Mahesh Vidyalaya earned third place defeating Millennium School 30-13. Kunal Sahane was the top scorer with 12 points for Mahesh Vidyalaya. He got healthy support from Saurabh Kudale who also scored six points.

Fro Millennium nothing went right from the start as they were trailing 4-14 at the half time and they could not do much even after changing ends.

Under-17 
Final: Loyola School 54 (Atharva Kogane 20, Shamit Pathak 9, Arya Itkayal 8) beat St Mary’s School 49 (Armaan Mali  24, Adhviat Chalke 20) Half time: 20-23.
Third Place: Mahesh Vidyalaya 30 (Kunal Sahane 12, Saurabh Kudale 6) beat Millennium School 13 (Aryan Nikam 4, Atharva Vishvasrao 4) Half time: 14-4.
Semi-final 1: Loyola School 43 (Arya Shirke 14, Atharva Kogane 12) beat Millennium School 4 (Mihir Gole 2). Half time: 35-2.
Semifinal 2: St Mary’s School 30 (Armaan Mali 11, Siddhant ) beat Mahesh Vidayalya 14 (Rahul Rathod 4, Kunal Chane 3) Half time: 22-8.
