Maharashtra face TN in quarterfinal

Pune: Maharashtra will face Tamil Nadu in the quarterfinal of the third Hockey India 5-A-side Senior National Championship going on in Bengaluru.

Maharashtra topped Group B on the better goal difference. Maharashtra and Karnataka both finished league stage with five points.

In the last league match, Maharashtra played out an entertaining 4-4 draw against hosts Karnataka.

It was a match of two halves as Karnataka dominated the first period by taking a 4-1 lead. But Maharashtra showed great spirit to score three goals in the second period and hold the hosts to a 4-4 draw. 

Goals for Maharashtra were scored by Preeti Dubey (12th, 15th, 16th) and H Lalruatfeli (10th) while S P Kruthika (5th, 9th), M D Pooja (6th) and skipper Leelavathy M J Mallamada (7th) scored for Karnataka.

Haryana vs Uttar Pradesh; Odisha vs Jharkhand; Punjab vs Karnataka; Tamil Nadu vs Maharashtra
