Maharashtra: Former Ranji player Shekhar Gawli dies after falling into 250-feet valley

On Wednesday morning, September 2, former Maharashtra Ranji player Shekar Gawli's body was recovered. He slipped into a valley on Tuesday, September 1, while he was trekking in Igatpuri taluka of Nashik. According to reports he fell into a 200 ft deep valley while taking a selfie.

The rescue operation began late in the night but got halted by the nightfall. Even the villagers searched for him till evening but failed. The search team resumed its operation today morning. Gawli was also the fitness coach of Maharashtra's under-23 cricket team.

Maharashtra cricket association said in a tweet, "In a tragic incident our former player and current Trainer of Maharashtra team Shekhar Gawli, passed away tragically .Our condolences to his family and friends .We are all with his family in this tragic situation. May his soul rest in peace

 #rip"
