Maini secures first podium of the year

SPORTS REPORTER

Pune: Kush Maini put on a great show at Imola to secure his first podium of the year with an impressive third place finish in Race 2 and 4th place finish in Race 1.

He managed a tight photo finish in the first race of the weekend, claiming the fourth position on the final lap of the race. He was also on track to finish close to the top in Race 3 before an accident made him finish in ninth place.

Round 5 at Imola began with a couple of 9th place finishes for Kush in the two practice sessions. He had good pace in the practice, and it showed in the qualifying sessions.

Maini started Race 1 in P6 and kept the pressure on the cars in front to eventually finish fourth in a tight photo-finish.

Race 2, however, had a late start due to heavy rains and meant it was a wet race. Kush held his second position for almost the entire race, before losing out with two laps to go. This was Kush’s first podium this season.

Excited about his first podium, Kush Maini said, “I’m very happy with my performance here at Imola, this is my first podium this season and I hope to continue this form going forward. I had a lot of good finishes, but a few unfortunate mistakes cost me a few points this weekend. The weather made the races on Sunday quite challenging as well.”
