PCMC XI thumps Super XI 7-2 in opener

PUNE: PCMC XI and Aspat Academy were in full flow and handsomely won their opening encounters in the inaugural Ajit Dada Chashak Hockey Tournament at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium, Nehrunagar-Pimpri, on Monday.

On a wet day all day long, Aspat Academy ran past Priyadarshini Sports Centre 7-1, while PCMC led by a three-goal effort by Anand Gaikwad put an end to Super XI.

In the tournament opener, Aspat ran up a 5-1 lead at the half way stage with Akshay Rajput (2 goals), Sanket Joglekar, Prashant Todkar and Shakti Thakur (1) sounding the boards to take a 5-0 advantage.

PSC went into half time pulling one back via Abdul Salamani (24th) minute.

On resumption, Sanket (31st) scored immediately and Prithviraj Salunke (36th) completed the tally.

Later, home-side PCMC had it easy with Anand (24th, 36th, 39th) leading from the from. The other scorers for the winners were Ajay Gote (2nd), Vrushab Avhad (9th), Abhishak Mane (40th) and Jitendra Gavhave (49th)

For Super XI Rrushikesh Sarolkar (16th) and Yogesh Uttekar (32nd) reduced the margin.

RESULTS:
PCMC XI 7 (Ajay Gote 2nd; Vrushab Avhad 9th; Anand Gaikwad 24th, 36th, 39th; Abhishak Mane 40th, Jitendra Gavhave 49th) bt Super XI 2 (Rrushikesh Sarolkar 16th; Yogesh Uttekar 32nd). 

Aspat Academy 7 (Akshay Rajput 13th, 18th; Prashant Todkar 14th; Sanket Joglekar 19th, 31st; Shakti Thakur 22nd; Prithviraj Salunke 36th) bt Priyadarshini Sports Centre, Khadki 1 (Abdul Salamani 24th).
