Pranav clinches Cadet Boys title

Pune: Top seeded Pranav Gholkar defeated third seeded Arnav Zagade 11-2,11-7,11-7,11-5 in the final of the Cadet Boys category of the 1st Sharada District Ranking Table Tennis Tournament in progress at Sharada Sports Centre on Thursday.

Earlier in the semifinal, Pranav defeated Ryan Dsouza 11-6,11-2,12-10 while Arnav beat Abhiraj Sakpal with the score reading 11-7,11-7,11-5.

In the Sub Junior girls final, first seeded Pritha Vartikar beat second seed Dhanashree Pawar 11-4,8-11,9-11,11-9,11-8,11-6 to emerge victorious.

In the semifinal action, Pritha beat fifth seed Sakshi Pawar 11-8, 11-7, 11-6, 11-2 while Dhanashree beat third seed Mayuri Thombre 11-8, 11-9, 11-8, 4-11, 11-8.

Later top seeded Anaiy Kovelamudi beat second seeded Neil Mulye 7-11, 3-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-5, 9-11, 11-8 to lay hands on the Sub Junior Boys title.

In the semifinals, Anaiy beat Aditya Jori 11-7, 11-4, 6-11, 11-8,11-7 while Neil beat Amish Athawale 9-11, 11-9, 13-11, 11-6, 11-3.

Cadet Boys: Final: 1-Pranav Gholkar bt 3-Arnav Zagade 11-2, 11-7, 11-7, 11-5.
Semifinals: 1-Pranav Gholkar bt Ryan Dsouza 11-6, 11-2, 12-10; 3-Arnav Zagade bt Abhiraj Sakpal 11-7, 11-7, 11-5.
Sub Junior Girls: Final: 1-Pritha Vartikar bt 2-Dhanashree Pawar 11-4, 8-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-6.
