Pranjala wins title in Egypt

Pune: Pranjala came out with a stunning performance to claim her first ITF women’s title in the $15,000 Sharm El Sheikh Women’s tournament in Egypt on Monday.   

In the final, Pranjala scored a 6-7 (0-7), 7-5, 6- 4 win over Clerici Giada of Italy. After winning first set in the tie-breaker, Pranjala fought hard and held her nerves to win the second set 7-5. In the decider, the Hyderabad girl faced no trouble as she clinched the final set 6-4. 

Pranjala was going strong right from the start of the tournament, as she ousted top seed players before coming home with the trophy.
In the semi-final, Pranjala got the better of fourth seeded Yashina Ekaterina of Russia 6-4, 6-4.

The quarter-final was the toughest affair for 18-year-old Pranjala where she defeated top seed  Mihalikova Tereza of Slovakia 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).

Results
Final: bt Clerici Giada (Ita) 6-7 (0-7), 7-5, 6- 4.
Semi-final: bt 4-Yashina Ekaterina (Rus) 6-4, 6-4.
Quarter-final: bt 1-Mihalikova Tereza (Svk) 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
