Pune Sub Junior girls defeat Thane in semifinals

PUNE: Pune defeated Thane 3-1 in the semifinals of the Sub Junior Girls category of the  50th Inter District & Maharashtra State Table Tennis Tournament in progress at the Balewadi Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Pune’s Pritha Vartikar defeated Thane’s Shravani Sawant 11-9,15-13,11-8.  In another match, Pritha went on to beat Arya Songadkar 11-8, 11-3, 11-6. In the doubles action, the pair of Radhika Sakpal and Pritha Vartikar beat Arya Songadkar and Aadyashree Jog 12-14, 9-11, 11-9, 11-4, 11-3. Meanwhile Thane’s Shravani Sawant beat Pune’s Dhanashree Pawar 11-6, 11-6, 11-0 to give the Thane girls their only win.

In other action, Nashik beat Mumbai Suburban 3-1. Taneesha Kotecha from Nashik beat Ananya Chande from Mumbai Suburbs 11-7, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6.  In another match Taneesha beat Sampada Bhiwandkar 11-8,11-8,11-5.

The only win for Mumbai Suburbs came when Ananya Chande beat Sayali Wani 11-5, 12-14, 11-8, 6-11, 11-7.

In the doubles action, Sayli Baxi and Taneesha Kotecha defeated Ananya Chande and Sampada Bhiwandkar 11-5, 11-7, 11-3.

The Women’s team semifinal witnessed Mumbai City defeating Pune 3-0. Senhora Dsouza from Mumbai beat Isha Swar from Pune 11-6,11-5,11-5. Later Shweta Parte defeated Eesha Joshi as the sccore read  11-5,11-6,11-6.

Mumbai Suburban bt Thane 3-2 (Shruti Amrute (Thn) bt Anannya Basak (Msd) 14-12, 11-4, 10-12, 6-11,11-9. Snehal Patil (Thn) bt Mamata Prabhu (Msd) 5-11,11-8,11-8,11-6,Reeth Rishya (Msd) bt Shruti Amrute (Thn) 7-11, 11-6, 8-11, 12-10, 12-10, Anannya Basak (Msd) bt Disha Hulawle (Thn) 11-7,11-4,11-8.
