PUNE: Puneri Ustad defeated Yashwant Satara 4-2 in the final of the Zee Maharashtra Kusti Dangal (ZMKD) which concluded at the Balewadi Sports Complex recently.

Puneri Ustad, a team owned by Shantaram Manave and Paritosh Painter won the prestigious trophy as well as 50 lacs. Yashwant Satara, the runners-up won Rs 30 lakhs while Vidarbhache Wagh who stood third won Rs 20 lakhs.

The first match of the last day was the second Eliminator Round between Vidarbhache Wagh and Puneri Ustad where Puneri Ustad beat Vidarbhache Wagh 5-1. Vishranti Patil, Vinod Kumar, Rahul Aware, Sangram Patil, Ganesh Jagtap from Puneri Ustad and Vijay Patil from Vidarbhache Wagh were the winners from their respective bouts. 

The second match which was the final, was an interesting affair as hosts Puneri Ustad did not disappoint against Yashwant Satara. 

Vinod Kumar, Sangram Patil, Ganesh Jagtap, Rahul Aware from Puneri Ustad and Utkarsh Kale and Anshu Malik were the winners from their respective bouts. 

Eventually, the bout between Kautuk Dafale and Sangram Patil was awarded as the Fantastic Fight of the day. 

To top it all, Vinod Kumar from team Puneri Ustad was awarded as the Player of the Series.
