Pungaliya and Palha claim titles

Pune: Jayesh Pungaliya of Maharashtra and Natasha Palha of Goa clinched the men’s and women’s singles title at the MSLTA Hotel Ravine All India Ranking 2 lakh men’s and women’s tennis tournament at Ravine Hotel tennis courts in Panchgani on Friday.

In the final, qualifier and fourth seed Jayesh Pungaliya from Pune upset third seed Ishaque Eqbal of Punjab 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 in just over 2 hours to claim the men’s singles title.

Among women, top seed Natasha Palha came back from one set down to dispose of Humera Shaik of Telangana 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 to lift the title.

The men’s singles winner got a trophy and Rs 15,500 while Natasha got a trophy and Rs 10,400.

Results:
Men: 4-Jayesh Pungaliya bt 3-Ishaque Eqbal 6-2, 3-6, 6-0.
Women: 1-Natasha  Palha bt 2-Humera Shaik 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
