Romir Mukherjee fastest in Under-14 category

Pune: Romir Mukherjee from Racing Fitness proved to be the fastest as he won the Under-14 boys 100 metre event of the Pune District Junior Athletics Championship which concluded at the Balewadi Sports Complex here on Sunday.

Romir clocked 12.8 seconds while Madhav Barak also from Racing Fitness stood second followed by Atharva Chattar from Maharashtriya Mandal who stood third. In the pentathlon event, Karan Madke from St Vincent’s High School stood on the first position with 2670 points. Shubham Gonde from Track Fortune stood second while Shivam Shende from Mar Ivanios School stood third.

In the long jump event, Suyash Kulkarni from Deccan Gymkhana stood first with a 5.62 metre jump. Dhairyashil Dhere from Mar Ivanios School and Varsh Mahajan from Oneness club stood on the second and third positions respectively.

In the girls, 100 metre Under-14 event, Khushi Umesh from Racing Fitness finished on top clocking 13.0 seconds. 

Parthivi Salunkhe from Pune Athletics Club and Gauravi Naik from Unique Sports finished second and third.

In the boys 800 metre Under-20 category, Deccan Gymkhana’s Nishant Joshi won the race with a timing of 2.12:4. Standing second was Prafful Laade from Racing Fitness followed by Chetan Rai from Track Fortune Club who stood third.

In the girls 800 metre Under-20 category, Gayatri Gargote from Elite Runners stood first clocking 2.59:9 while Richa Sharma from Inventor Academy and Priyanka Gawli from Unique Sports Academy stood on the second and third places.
