Sakal Society Cricket League gets fantastic response

PUNE: As many as 128 housing societies from the city have registered for the inaugural edition of Sakal Society Cricket League presented by VTP Realty, which will begin on April 27 with the knockout matches slated for the third week of May.

The draw ceremony took place at Pandit Farms on Sunday. VTP Reality are the Presenting Sponsors of the tournament; while Ravetkar Housing, Lokmanya Multipurpose Co-op Society Ltd, Suhana – Pravin Masalevale and Shri Venkatesh Buildcon are the group owners.

NPAV are the antivirus partners, while Jupiter Hospital are the health partners of the tournament, that will be played on the SP college grounds.

The weekend-only league will have 223 matches. The semi-finals will be played on  May 18, while the big final will be held the next day.

The teams will be drawn into eight groups comprising 16 teams and each group then will be further divided into four pools. Top teams from each pool will qualify for the quarterfinals, followed by semi-finals and the final.

Format: 8 groups of 16  teams each
