Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Enters Last 8

Pune:  Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar along with defending champs MP Hockey Academy had yet another field day with easy victories over Hockey Nashik and Regional Development Centre to qualify for the last eight in the 4th SNBP All-India Hockey Tournament 2019 (Boys Under-16) at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mhalunge-Balewadi here on Thursday.

For SGPC (Pool-G) and MP Hockey Academy (Pool-A) the wins were their second in a row. Playing the first match of the day, SGPC walked out registering a 14-0 verdict over a hapless Hockey Nashik. The win meant that SGPC in two matches have scored a staggering 35 goals  and have not conceeded a goal so far.

The win was led by a triple-goal effort by Bikramjit Singh (4th, 38th, 41st) and Kawaljit Singh (29th, 50th, 54th). The others accounting for the tally were Amritpal Singh (2nd, 31st) and a goal each by Sarabjinder Singh, Jobanjot Fantu Singh, Harpreet Singh, Saganpreet Singh, Sukhchain Singh and Jagpreet Singh.

SGPC became the first team to move into the knock out phase. Kohinoor Academy made their exit.
In Pool-A, MP Hockey Academy continued their dominance with an 8-1 win over Regional Development Centre (RDC).
