Shreya, Shrushti win gold, silver in U-19 category

Pune: Maharashtra’s Shreya Deshpande and Shrushti Haleangadi clinched gold and silver medal in the Under-19 Girls’ category of the 11SPORTS 63rd National School Games Table Tennis Championships here in Vadodara on Sunday.

In an exciting final, Shreya took the first game 11-9 but lost the next 8-11 to see Shrushti rallying back into the contest.

The duo exchanged the next two games 11-7 and 11-13 to set up the decider.

Shreya, however, was in her element in the fifth game to win 11-4 to pocket the gold.

Under-19 boys title went to Kaushal Bhatt of Gujarat who defeated Mohammad Ali of Telengana 9-11, 11-9, 14-12, 11-6.

Boys, Under-19: Kaushal Bhatt ( Guj) bt Mohammad Ali (Tel) 9-11, 11-9, 14-12, 11-6.
Under-17: Manush Shah (Guj) bt Aakash Pal (WB) 13-11, 11-7, 11-5.
Under-14: Payas Jain (Del) bt  Aadarsh Om Chhetri (Del) 11-5, 11-7, 11-6.
Girls, Under-19: Shreya S Deshpande (Mah) bt Shrushti S Haleangadi (Mah) 11-9, 8-11, 11-7, 11-13, 11-4.
Under-17: Trisha Gogoi bt Vanshika Bhargawa (Del) 8-11, 11-6, 11-6, 15-13.
Under-14 Kavya Sree B (TN) bt Lakshita Narang (Del) 11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 8-11, 11-7.
