Siddhant one win away from Jr French Open WC

Pune: Seasoned campaigner Siddhant Banthia of Pune will face Mann Maulik Shah in the final of the Roland Garros Wild-Card Competition by Longines’ at RK Khanna Tennis Complex, DLTA in  Delhi on Friday.

Siddhant defeated fourth-seeded N Calvin Golmei in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 on Thursday. Siddhant had earlier showed great character in his quarterfinal match against Arjun C Honnappa as he came back from a set down to win by the scoreline of 2-6, 6-3, 7-5.  Then Mann got the better of Dev V Javia 6-1, 6-2 in the second semi-final.

The ‘Roland Garros Junior Wild-Card Competition is a part of the fourth edition of the Rendez-Vous  à Roland Garros, winners of which earn the Wild Card  to the Qualifiers of the Junior French Open 2018.

Last year, Siddhant and Mallika Marathe, both from Pune, were the two finalists from India who qualified.

Boys: 1-Siddhant J Banthia bt N Calvin Golmei 6-2, 6-0; Mann Maulik Shah bt Dev V Javia 6-1, 6-2.
Girls: Rashmikaa S Bhamidipaty bt Yubrani Banerjee 6-2, 6-4; Tanisha Kashyap bt 2-Prinkle Singh 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.
