St Mary’s HS girls clinch U-14 title

Pune: St Mary’s School defeated SES Gurukul 3-0 in the final of the Under-14 girls category of the Zilla Parishad football tournament in progress at St Patrick’s High School on Thursday.

Eve Pitale scored the opener through a free kick in the third minute. Later, Anisha Jagdale scored the second goal for St Mary’s in the 21st minute through a penalty kick. Surbhi Upadhayay sealed the deal for St Mary’s, scoring the third in the 27th minute with a pass from Riyana Verma.

In the battle for the third place, Dr Shamarao Kalmadi High School Erandwane defeated Hutchings High School 5-4 in the tie-breaker after the score was 1-1 at regulation time.

Durva Devkar scored for the Erandwane outfit in the 12th minute while Janhavi Hengde scored for Hutchings in the 24th minute. In the tie-breaker, Vaishnavi Dalvi, Shrushti Tambe, Tanaya Gaikwad and Durva Devkar scored for the winners while Divya Lulla, Bharg Pawar and Divya Basantani scored for Hutchings.

In the Under-17 first round action, Sinhgad Springdale Public School defeated Oxford International School 1-0 to enter the next round. Spruha Kshirsagar scored the lone goal for Sinhgad in the 17th minute.

In another match, Gurukul High School defeated Vikhe Patil Memorial School, Lohegaon 1-0 with Shreeya Suryawanshi scoring in the 18th minute.

Later Lokseva English School beat SPM English Medium School 2-0. Shweta Vishwashe and Sania Rane scored one goal each in the 9th and 19th minutes respectively. In other action, Vidya Bhavan High School defeated Matoshree English Medium School 4-1 in the tie breaker after no goals were scored till regulation time.

In the tie breaker Garima Jagtap, Sneha Sandbhor, Arya Nandgude and Shrushti Aandhale scored for Vidya Bhavan High School while Samruddhi Lavate scored for the Matoshree girls.
