Symbiosis girls hammer MES Balshikshan

Pune: Girls from Symbiosis School, Prabhat Road, scored an inspiring straight set win over MES Balshikshan Mandir English Medium School, Kothrud, in the main draw league match of the Mapro presents Sakal Schoolympics Volleyball event at the Deccan Gymkhana courts here on Monday.

Symbiosis won comfortably 25-19, 25-13 on a day when three matches were decided with 2-0 score-line—City Pride School, Nigdi Pradhikaran, Abhinava Vidyalaya English Medium School, Erandwane, and Millennium National School, Karvenagar—being the other schools to have it easy outings.

Jnana Prabodhini stretched
Jnana Prabodhini Navanagar Vidyalaya, Nigdi, was taken to the distance by Nalanda English Medium School, Dhayari, as the match stretched in to three sets before the Nigdi school scored the winning smash for 16-25, 25-18, 15-11 come from behind win.

The other match in the girl’s category was a washout as Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Sulochana Natu Vidya Mandir, SB Road, moved ahead when they were accorded walkover as their opponents Kantilal Shah English Medium School, Talegaon Dabhade, failed to report.

Nagarvala Boarding wins
Dr (Mrs) Erin Nagarvala Boarding School, Kalyaninagar, too was made to rally after losing the first set 25-27 in a long drawn out match, by Olympicveer Khashaba Jadhav Kridaniketan. Nagarvala School won 25-27, 25-18 15-6 in the qualifying knockout matches.

In other action Modern High School, Shivajinagar, defeated City Pride School, Nigdi, 25-12, 25-19; Sarhad School beat RCM Gujarati High School 25-18, 25-6 and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Sulochana Natu Vidya Mandir, SB Road, scored over Mahesh Vidyalaya English Medium, Kothrud 25-12, 25-17).
