Pune: Phillip Ryan-designed Oxford Golf Resort—Pune’s marquee golfing destination for recreational and pro golfers alike—has been adjudged “Best Course in India” at the Asian Golf Awards 2018 in Bangkok on Sunday.

The awards instituted by Asia Pacific Golf Group, which recognises golf club industry in the Asian region, gave thumbs up to the 18-hole par-72 Championship course nestled in the Sahayadri ranges in the most scenic setting at Lavale in Pune.

The selection process goes through over a year where the courses are judged over various parameters before final selection is done.
The Chairman of the Oxford group, Anil Seolekar, received the award at a glitterati evening in the presence of legend Greg Norman, popularly known as Shark.

The course has been instrumental in making Pune as a major golfing destination in India over the years with various outstanding awards.
“I am overwhelmed by this award and I am sure we will continue to set new benchmarks in future also,” Seolekar told Sakal Times from Bangkok airport before catching the flight back home.

“We have kept Pune’s flag flying high in India’s golf industry,” said Seolekar about the Pacific Coast Designed course that offers 5-star restaurant and club house facilities along with David Leadbetter Golf Academy.
