Apple enthusiasts are buzzing with speculation surrounding its design and features. The project has been internally codenamed "Solarium," a name that hints at a potential glass-like aesthetic for the new operating system. This information was revealed by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who noted that the design is expected to incorporate more translucent buttons, menus, and notification banners, reminiscent of Apple's visionOS used in the Vision Pro headset.

The rumored design changes suggest a shift towards more transparent and fluid user interfaces, allowing for a visually appealing experience that could enhance usability and aesthetics. This aligns with Apple's ongoing trend of prioritizing sleek and modern designs.

Reports indicate that iOS 19 will draw significant inspiration from visionOS, with features such as semi-transparent menu windows and innovative types of buttons. This could represent one of the most substantial visual overhauls since iOS 7 introduced a flatter look back in 2013.

Alongside the aesthetic changes, a revamped Health app is expected to debut, potentially integrating new functionalities that leverage the updated design. This could include enhanced tracking features and improved user interfaces for health monitoring.

Apple's project codenames have not always directly reflected the final product's design or features. For instance, previous versions like iOS 18 were codenamed "Crystal," while iOS 17 was dubbed "Dawn." Despite speculation regarding the significance of these names, many analysts believe they hold little meaning beyond internal identification.

Apple is set to unveil iOS 19 during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 9, 2025. This event will likely showcase not only the new operating system but also other anticipated products like the iPhone 17 Air. The first beta version of iOS 19 will be available for developers shortly after the announcement, with a public release expected in September.
