In a press release earlier this month, OpenAI said India has emerged as the biggest market for ChatGPT Images 2.0 users. The company noted that the feature became an instant hit in the country within a week of its April launch, adding that the AI image model is rapidly becoming part of India’s internet culture, particularly among young users exploring identity, aesthetics and storytelling online.
The widespread adoption of OpenAI’s latest AI image-generation feature also prompted a response from CEO Sam Altman, who acknowledged the milestone on X. In a recent post, Altman said: “ChatGPT Images 2.0 is very popular in India. More than 1 billion images have already been generated there; it’s incredible to witness.”
