Claude is down again, its second outage in less than 24 hours, leaving users frustrated and prompting questions about the platform’s reliability. By 9:35 am (US time), outage tracker Downdetector had logged over 4,000 user complaints. Nearly 40% of users reported issues with Claude’s chat function, while 34% flagged problems with the app and around 15% cited website disruptions.
The impact extended to India as well, where more than 300 users reported difficulties during the same period. Of those, 71% experienced issues with Claude chat, 15% with the app, and 14% with the website. During the previous outage on March 2, which lasted from roughly 5 pm to 8 pm across several regions, over 1,000 users in India had reported service interruptions.
Claude is an AI chatbot developed by Anthropic, a US-based artificial intelligence research company founded by former OpenAI researchers. Anthropic focuses on building AI systems with an emphasis on safety and reliability.
Claude competes with other leading AI chatbots and is widely used for tasks such as content generation, coding assistance, research, and conversational support. As businesses and individuals increasingly rely on AI tools for daily workflows, repeated outages can disrupt productivity and raise concerns about service stability.
On its official status page, Anthropic acknowledged the latest disruption, stating that the team is investigating the issue.
