The wait is finally over for Android users! OpenAI has officially rolled out its much-anticipated Sora AI video-generation app on Android, expanding access to one of the most talked-about tools in generative media. First launched on iOS, the app is now available on Android as of 6th November 2025 in select regions, allowing users to create AI-generated videos without needing an invite code.
Sora provides a TikTok-inspired stream of AI-created videos and enables users to produce their own clips using straightforward text prompts, transforming creative concepts into reality like never before. In contrast to the iOS version of the app, which necessitated an invite code for access, Sora's Android app allows users to join without needing an invite code. Additionally, there is no requirement to join a waitlist to use it.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Bill Peebles, the leader of OpenAI's Sora, revealed that while Sora is now available on the top mobile operating system globally, its access is limited to specific regions including the United States, Canada, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
OpenAI's Sora application enables users to create videos from text prompts and share them on a feed similar to Instagram or TikTok. Additionally, users can utilize a feature named 'Cameos,' which permits them to upload a personal photo and alter the background to anything generated by Sora. To access this feature, users must upload a one-time video and voice recording to confirm their identity and capture their appearance.
Sora tailors video suggestions based on your activity, location, previous interactions, and ChatGPT history, giving you a more personalized experience. OpenAI is working towards launching Sora in Europe, but the schedule for its release in India is still unclear.
However, there are limits on how many videos you can generate daily:
ChatGPT Pro subscribers: up to 100 videos per 24 hours
Free and Plus users: up to 30 videos per day
