Samsung Electronics to Add Chip Production Line Amid Surging Demand for AI

Samsung Electronics announced on Sunday that it will expand its facility in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, by adding a new chip production line to accommodate the increasing global demand driven by the surge in artificial intelligence.

According to a report by Reuters, the South Korean chip manufacturer announced that mass production is set to commence in 2028. The company also mentioned plans for further infrastructure investments to bolster its expanded operations.

Additionally, Samsung is expected to introduce the first 2nm chipsets to the market in 2026, potentially outpacing competitors. Additionally, the company might fulfill a goal advocated by the Trump administration: manufacturing in the United States. Recent reports indicate that Samsung is nearing the commencement of 2nm chip production in the US.
