Xiaomi 17 Pro Max vs iPhone 17 Pro Max: Apple and Xiaomi have recently unveiled their flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and the iPhone 17 Pro Max in global markets. Both companies are fiercely competing to attract users seeking cutting-edge performance, top-tier camera capabilities, and sleek design without compromise.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max boasts Apple’s latest A19 Pro chip, runs on iOS 26, and features a redesigned chassis that enhances both aesthetics and durability. On the other hand, Xiaomi has doubled down on display innovations, advanced features, and functionality improvements aimed squarely at challenging Apple’s new flagship offering. This year, Xiaomi bypassed the 16 series altogether to take on the iPhone 17 lineup, indicating its intention to directly compete with Apple.
The 256GB model of the iPhone 17 Pro Max is available for Rs. 1,49,900. In contrast, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is sold in China at CNY 5,999 for the 12GB + 512GB version, CNY 6,299 for the 16GB + 512GB version, and CNY 6,999 for the 16GB + 1TB version.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR, True Tone, and P3 color for accurate visuals. In comparison, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max offers a 6.9-inch AMOLED screen with Longjing Glass 3.0, 3500 nits peak brightness, 1.5K resolution, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate. It also includes a unique 2.7–2.9-inch rear display for selfies, clock, or gaming—features missing on the iPhone.
Apple does not officially reveal battery capacities, but the iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to feature a 5,088mAh battery, supporting 40W wired and 15W MagSafe wireless charging. In contrast, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is equipped with a 7,500mAh battery, offering 100W wired HyperCharge, 50W wireless HyperCharge, and 22.5W reverse wireless charging capabilities.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max by Apple features a triple-camera system that includes a 48MP main sensor, an ultra-wide lens, and a telephoto lens with 4X optical zoom. In contrast, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is equipped with a Leica-tuned triple camera setup, featuring a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5X optical zoom, and an ultra-wide lens. For selfies, Apple incorporates an 18MP front camera, whereas Xiaomi uses a 50MP front sensor.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is equipped with Apple's A19 Pro chip, combined with 12GB of RAM and storage options up to 2TB. It uses a vapor chamber cooling system to control heat. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max features the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, operating on HyperOS 3, which is based on Android 16.
Both smartphones are capable of handling multitasking, gaming, and productivity applications effectively, but Xiaomi provides greater customization options and additional RAM for advanced users.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max features Ceramic Shield 2 and complies with IP68 standards for protection against dust and water. On the other hand, Xiaomi presents a dual-screen setup with a Magic Back Screen and Dragon Crystal Glass. Xiaomi's additional display and gaming accessories enhance its interactive design, whereas Apple's design emphasizes a polished, classic appearance.
