It is now confirmed: after days of intense speculation about their relationship, actor Mouni Roy and her husband, businessman Suraj Nambiar, have officially announced their divorce.
In a joint statement released on Thursday evening, they posted on Instagram, “We are deeply troubled by the unwarranted and invasive scrutiny of our private lives by some sections of the media. We wish to clarify that we have mutually decided to separate and are taking the time we need to resolve these matters in a private and amicable manner.”
Multiple rumours about Mouni and Suraj's life had been doing the rounds on social media. Some reports even claimed that the two are already divorced, and have been living separately.
Responding to the speculation, they added, “There have been attempts to sensationalize our personal lives through the spread of fabricated stories and outright lies that do not represent the truth of our relationship. After careful consideration of our changing personal priorities, we have mutually decided to continue our lives on separate paths, with respect and understanding.
At this stage, we are committed to handling this transition with thoughtfulness and in private. We will strive to preserve our friendship in the future. We are truly grateful for your understanding, your respect for our privacy, and the ongoing support you have shown us during this period.” The earliest indication of trouble in the relationship surfaced recently, when observers noticed that the two had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
