Aditya Dhar's film, Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, narrates the tale of an Indian spy who penetrates a Baloch gang in Lyari to dismantle a terrorist group. Featuring Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun, the movie portrays the area as plagued by gang conflicts. An Indian Instagram influencer encountered a Pakistani in Bali and inquired about his views on the film. They conversed about the authenticity of Aditya's portrayal of Lyari.
A Pakistani believes that Dhurandhar is humorous but not as impressive as people say.
Rohan Bhatia, an Instagram influencer known as @thebesharamfoodie, shared a video featuring an encounter with a Pakistani individual in Bali. The video was captioned, 'I asked a Pakistani about Dhurandhar in Bali!' In the clip, a man and a woman are seen conversing with the influencer about Dhurandhar.
Dhurandhar is somewhat overrated. There was a statement that we, the people of Karachi, found amusing: Whoever controls Lyari, controls Karachi. And whoever controls Karachi controls Pakistan. We, the residents of Karachi, often say that Karachi is a city without native roots, a place for those without a home. It's not possible to control Pakistan from there," the man in the video remarks, adding, "If you want to achieve that, it can be done from Lahore. For context, my family originally hailed from Lyari. There was, and still is, some gang violence there, but it's merely between two local gangs."
Sara Arjun in a miniskirt, FA9LA is not a Balochi song
The man in the video discusses Sara Arjun's role as Yalina Jamali, noting humorously, "It's amusing that the girl is wandering around in a miniskirt." The woman beside him comments, "A woman can't walk alone in Lyari wearing a miniskirt. That's unrealistic." The Pakistani man continues, "There was a scene featuring a party and an underground rave (in the Naal Nachna song) with signs supposedly in Urdu." She remarks, "The signs aren't in Urdu; they're only in English."
In the video, the pair expressed their appreciation for Dhurandhar's 'excellent cinematography' and the song FA9LA. The man commented, 'The song was enjoyable too, but it isn't a Balochi song. Being a Sindhi Balochi, I know what I'm saying.' For those unfamiliar, FA9LA is by Flipperachi, a rapper from Bahrain. The man also noted that in Pakistan, no one wears a half-sleeve kurta like Ranveer's character Jaskirat Singh Rangi, also known as Hamza Ali Mazari.
In what manner did Hamza run away with Yalina?
The pair also wonders how Hamza manages to run away with Yalina, the daughter of Jameel Jamali, a senior politician from the Pakistani Awami Party (PAP) and a Member of the National Assembly, portrayed by Rakesh Bedi. They remarked, 'He also ran off with a Minister's daughter. I'm certain that was fictional because in Pakistan, such an event is impossible. A daughter from such a household suddenly going there is unheard of. I suppose it was added for dramatic effect.'
After viewing Dhurandhar, many were curious about the reasons behind the events depicted, and Dhurandhar: The Revenge provides a reasonable explanation. The initial film premiered globally last December, excluding Pakistan and the Gulf states. The sequel hit theaters on March 19, but it also wasn't released in those areas.
