During a major security operation in Faridabad, the Jammu and Kashmir Police seized 350 kg of explosives, believed to be ammonium nitrate, along with an AK-47 rifle, a pistol, three magazines, 20 timers, a walkie-talkie set, and ammunition from a rented property in Dhauj village. According to police, a doctor named Dr. Mujammil Shakeel from Jammu and Kashmir was also arrested in connection with the operation. Faridabad police confirmed that city officers played an active role in this counter-terror effort.
Shakeel, who had been leasing the house in Dhauj for approximately three months, was taken into custody, and the arms cache was seized during a planned operation on Sunday. The Faridabad Police Commissioner clarified that the substance was ammonium nitrate, contrary to earlier media reports suggesting it was RDX.
This recovery follows the arrest of Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, a Kashmiri doctor apprehended in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Rather is accused of posting pro–Jaish-e-Mohammed material in Srinagar on October 27, supporting the banned terrorist organization. During interrogation, Rather revealed information that directed police to Dr.
Mujammil Shakeel, also known as Mujahil Shakil or Muzammil Shakeel, a fellow doctor from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, who works at Al-Falah Hospital in Faridabad. Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta shared these details at a press conference on Monday afternoon.
Previously, Jammu and Kashmir police conducted a search of Rather's locker at the Government Medical College in Anantnag, where he had been employed as a senior resident until October of the previous year. During the search, they discovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition. Rather has been charged under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Authorities are still piecing together how such a large stockpile of explosives made its way near Delhi and what the intended target might have been. Investigators say the probe is ongoing, and details are expected to emerge in the coming days as the case unfolds.
