Pune, 10th June 2025: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has praised the “Revenue Lok Adalat” initiative launched in Pune and has suggested that such courts should be organized across the state. He said this step will help clear thousands of pending revenue cases faster and bring more efficiency to the system.

Speaking at a Revenue Lok Adalat held at the Pune District Collector’s office on Monday (June 9), Pawar said the decision taken by the Pune District Magistrate is commendable and should be implemented statewide. At the event, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Divisional Commissioner Kavita Dwivedi, District Collector Jitendra Dudi, and local MLAs were also present.

During the program, Pawar highlighted that there are around 31,000 pending revenue claims in Pune district, and over 11,500 of them were settled in a single day during the Lok Adalat. He asked officials to settle the remaining cases in phases. To improve the functioning of revenue offices, Pawar announced that multi-purpose vehicles would be provided to these departments, especially at divisional and district levels. Proposals for the same will be approved quickly.

Speaking about support for home builders, Pawar said people building homes will be allowed to buy five bras of sand at a fair price under a new policy. The government is also encouraging the use of MCM (Machine Crushed Manufactured) sand to reduce pressure on natural sand resources.

Pawar further added that the revenue department is aiming to save Rs 2,500 crore. Out of this, Rs 1,000 crore will be used to improve the infrastructure of the department. He said the department is also working on using artificial intelligence in revenue courts to improve speed and transparency. Currently, Revenue Lok Adalats are being held in over 20 locations across the state.

He suggested that each district should organize such Lok Adalats every three months under the guidance of the Divisional Commissioner. He also mentioned that a conference will soon be held to promote the use of MCM sand, inviting construction professionals from across the state.

Revenue Minister Bawankule said that this initiative marks the beginning of reforms in the revenue department and will help reduce the huge backlog of cases from village to state level.
