
Pune, 19 June 2025: The palkhis of Sant Shri Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Shri Tukaram Maharaj will pass through Pune city from June 20 to June 23 during the Ashadhi Wari palkhi ceremony. To ensure the peaceful conduct of this massive religious event, around eight thousand police personnel have been deployed, informed Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Crime Branch Pankaj Deshmukh, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch) Amol Zhende were present at the press conference held at the Police Commissioner’s office on Wednesday (June 18).
Arrival of Palkhis in Pune on June 20:
Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s palkhi will arrive at Bopkhel on June 20 and proceed to Palkhi Vithoba Mandir in Shri Bhavani Peth via Phulenagar and Sangamwadi. On the same day, Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s palkhi will arrive via Harris Bridge, Khadki, and reach Shri Khattungya Vithoba Mandir in Nana Peth through Tukaram Paduka Chowk. Both palakhis will halt in Pune city on June 21.
Departure and Next Stops:
Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s palkhi will depart on June 22 and rest at Hadapsar Gadital, Uruli Devachi, Vadkinala, and Saswad (Pune Rural Limits) via Dive Ghat. Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s palkhi will halt at Loni Kalbhor and depart on June 23 towards Yavat via Naigaon Phata.
Robust Security Measures:
Given the large number of women and children participating in the processions, extensive security arrangements have been made to prevent any untoward incidents, including:
BDDS and dog squads will inspect the routes.
Quick Response Teams (QRT) will be deployed at crowded points.
Special Crime Branch teams to prevent chain snatching and pickpocketing.
Live location link of palakhis will be available on official websites and social media.
Real-time traffic updates will be shared on social media.
Aid centers and CCTV monitoring will be arranged along the routes and resting places.
Barricades will be erected to manage crowds effectively.
Inter-Departmental Coordination:
Coordination meetings have been held with the Public Works Department, Mahavitaran, Municipal Corporation, Metro, and Fire Department. Discussions were also held with the palakhi ceremony chief and trustees to ensure smooth execution.
