Pune, 18 June 2025: In preparation for the annual Ashadhi Wari Palkhi processions of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, the Pune District Collector’s Office has issued a detailed traffic regulation plan. The restrictions, in effect from June 17 to June 20, 2025, aim to ensure the safety of lakhs of Warkaris (pilgrims) and the smooth conduct of the centuries-old tradition.

According to the notification, several main roads and internal routes in Dehu, Alandi, Pune City, and adjoining rural areas will be closed or diverted. Heavy and light vehicles will face restrictions along the Palkhi routes, with clear signboards and police deployment to guide travelers.

June 17 (12:00 PM) to June 19 (12:00 AM)

Areas affected: Dehu, Alandi, Pune city and rural surroundings.
Measures:

  • Main roads and internal routes will be closed or diverted for the Palakhi movement.

  • Heavy and light vehicles banned on specified stretches along the routes.

  • Diversions implemented with proper signage and police deployment.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi:

  • Route: Dehu → Inamdar Wada → Anagadshah Baba Dargah → Chincholi Paduka → Dehu Kaman → Bhakti Shakti Tilak Chowk → Vitthal Mandir Akurdi (Rest Stop) → Khanda Mula → Shivaji Chowk → Mahavir Chowk → Morwadi Chowk → Pimpri Chowk → Pallav Nagar → Nashik Phata → Fugewadi → Dapodi → Harris Bridge (toward Pune).

  • Heavy Vehicle Bans:

    • Old Mumbai-Pune Highway (Dehu Kaman to Bhakti Shakti Chowk): June 16, 12:00 PM onwards.

    • Talegaon-Chakan Road (Dehu Phata to HP Chowk to Dehu): June 18, 9:00 PM onwards.

  • Alternate Routes:

    • Triveni Nagar → Talwade → Ganeshnagar → KNB Chowk → Khandelwal Chowk.

Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi:

  • Departure: June 19, 2025, from Alandi

  • Rest Day: June 19, 2025, in Alandi

  • Proceeding to Pune: June 20, 2025

  • Route: Alandi → Nagar Parishad Chowk → Yogiraj Chowk → Dehu Phata → Chanholi Phata → Alankapuram Chowk → Thorlya Paduka (Rest Stop) → Magazine Chowk → Vitthal Rukmini Chowk → Dighi → Bopkhel Phata → Vishrantwadi (toward Pune).

Heavy Vehicle Bans (June 17, 12:00 PM to June 19, 12:00 AM)

  • Chakan to Alandi

  • Chimbali to Alandi

  • Shel Pimpalgaon, Vadgaon Ghenand to Alandi

  • Markal to Alandi

Alternate Routes:

  • Alandi Phata or Chimbali Phata → Bharatmata Chowk → Panjarpol Chowk → Alankapuram Chowk, etc.

Other Road Closures (June 17, 12:00 PM to June 19, 12:00 AM)

  • Bharatmata Chowk to Alandi

  • Moshi Chowk to Alandi

  • Vishrantwadi to Alandi via Dighi

Alternate Routes:

  • Bharatmata → Moshi → Panjarpol → Alankapuram

  • Kelgaon Chowk

  • Bapdev Chowk

  • Indrayani Hospital

  • Vishrantwadi

  • Dhanori Phata

  • PCS Chowk

One-Way Routes:

  • Havaldar Vasti → Tale Patil Chowk → Aditya International School, Dudulgaon → exit toward Chakan via Indrayani river bridge.

  • Bharatmata Chowk → Moshi (Y-Junction right turn): One-way traffic only; no reverse entry allowed.

Complete Vehicle Bans on Palkhi Route (June 20, 12:01 AM onward)

  • Alandi routes: Vishrantwadi → Bopkhel → Dighi → Magazine Chowk → Alankapuram → Panjarpol Chowk

  • No heavy vehicles from Tulapur entering Alandi via Markal.

    • Alternate: Turn right at Markal → Koyali → Shel Pimpalgaon.

Alandi Parking Zones:

  • South of Tale Patil Chowk

  • North of Tale Patil Chowk

  • Near Dnyanvilas College, Dudulgaon

  • Bopdev Chowk

  • Opposite Indrayani Hospital

  • Vishrantwadi-Wadgaon Road

  • In front of Muktai Mangal Karyalaya

June 19 (12:01 AM) to June 20 (10:00 PM)

Extended restrictions on highways and rural roads as the Palkhis move toward Pandharpur through Dive Ghat, Saswad, Jejuri, Phaltan, Malshiras, and surrounding areas. Phase-wise closures will manage crowd movement and ensure public safety.

Safety & Public Instructions

  • Police barricades, clear directional boards, and volunteer patrols will be deployed to guide pilgrims and prevent congestion.

  • Unauthorized hoardings, banners, or obstructive structures on the procession routes must be removed immediately.

  • Dangerous trees along the roads will be pruned or cut down to avoid accidents.

  • Citizens are urged to cooperate with authorities and avoid non-essential travel through restricted zones during these days.

  • Live traffic updates and diversion maps will be issued by the PMC and traffic police through official channels.

The orders are enforceable under Sections 115, 116(1)(B), 116(4), and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1996 and violators will face penalties as per law.
