Two accused, Yash Patil and Amit Patole, were arrested and sent to police custody till September 12.
Police said the killing was part of a gang rivalry linked to the old Vanraj Andekar murder case.
Pune, 8th September 2025: The Pune police have registered a case against 13 people, including Surajkanta alias Bandu Andekar, in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Ayush Komkar from Bhawani Peth. Two of the accused, Yash Patil and Amit Patole, have been arrested. A local court has remanded them in police custody until September 12.
Ayush Komkar was shot dead on Friday evening in Nana Peth. According to police, the murder was a fallout of ongoing gang rivalry. Komkar was the son of Ganesh Komkar, an accused in the earlier murder of former corporator Vanraj Andekar.
A complaint in this case was lodged by Ayush’s mother, Kalyani Ganesh Komkar. Based on her statement, police charged 13 people, including Bandu Andekar (68), Krishna alias Krishnaraj Andekar (40), Shivam alias Shubham Andekar (31), and others, all residents of Nana Peth.
Police told the court that the accused had plotted the murder to avenge Vanraj Andekar’s killing. They claimed that Aman Pathan and Yash Patil fired at Ayush, while Amit Patole and Sujal Merugu were present at the scene.
Investigators recovered 12 spent cartridges and one live cartridge, while nine bullets were found in the victim’s body. The prosecution argued that police custody was needed for further investigation.
The defense lawyers, however, said the Andekar and Komkar families are already locked in civil disputes, and the arrested men had no direct role in the killing.
After hearing both sides, Judicial Magistrate First Class Prajakta Apte ordered police custody for Yash Patil and Amit Patole until September 12. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused soon.
