Pune: In an unusual case of domestic violence, a 37-year-old woman from Dhankawadi has accused her 60-year-old mother-in-law of assaulting her and causing injuries during a heated argument over bathroom usage. The incident took place on Friday morning at 6:30 AM in Kashinath Patil Nagar.
The complainant, a vegetable vendor by profession, filed a case against her mother-in-law at Sahakarnagar Police Station. The victim alleged that her mother-in-law frequently suspects her of inappropriate relations with others due to her interactions with customers and has repeatedly assaulted her in the past.
On the day of the incident, the complainant’s eldest son needed to prepare for school. When she asked her son to take a bath, the mother-in-law objected, stating she wanted to use the bathroom first. Despite explaining that her son needed to get ready for school, the complainant sent him to bathe.
This infuriated the mother-in-law, who allegedly began abusing and physically assaulting the complainant. During the altercation, the mother-in-law bit her on the left arm, thumb, and thigh, causing injuries.
Unable to bear the ongoing harassment, the complainant decided to take legal action. Police constable Shivtare is currently investigating the case.
