A domestic dispute in Bihar’s Vaishali district led to high drama outside a government school in Hajipur, where a man alleged that his wife, a teacher appointed through the BPSC, deserted him and their 10-year-old son after obtaining a government position.
The matter surfaced on Thursday in the Hajipur Nagar police station jurisdiction, where Aman Kumar, a resident of the Bidupur block, made serious accusations against his wife, Gunjan Kumari. Aman alleged that he toiled relentlessly and even sold his ancestral property to finance his wife’s education and career aspirations.
Aman stated that the couple wed in 2013. At that time, Gunjan had finished her Intermediate education and aspired to pursue higher studies and become a teacher. He alleged that, despite financial difficulties, he made sure her education was not disrupted. According to him, he sold about one-and-a-half kattha of ancestral land in 2022 to pay for her graduation, B.Ed, and preparation for the BPSC teacher recruitment exam.
Gunjan later cleared the BPSC TRE-2 examination in 2023 and underwent training in Supaul district before being posted at a government school in Bidupur block. Aman stated that after his wife secured the job, her attitude changed and she became emotionally distant from the family. He also alleged that during her training period, Gunjan developed a close relationship with an old college friend and subsequently refused to live with him.
The conflict intensified after Aman allegedly went to a rented house in Hajipur where Gunjan was living separately. He asserted that he discovered her with another man and notified the police, which sparked a disturbance in the neighborhood.
