Pune: In a significant political shift, former Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar has announced his departure from Congress and is set to join Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena in Mumbai today (March 10). Speaking at a press conference, Dhangekar expressed his disappointment at leaving Congress but emphasized that without power, work cannot be effectively done.
Dhangekar will meet Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at 7 PM today in Mumbai, where he is expected to formally join the party. He stated that his decision was made after consulting his supporters and party workers.
"I have no personal expectations. I am grateful to Congress for the opportunities given to me. I appreciate the party for allowing me to contest in both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Humanitarian values matter the most to me, and I hold no grievances against Congress," Dhangekar said.
He acknowledged that quitting Congress was a difficult and emotional decision. "I have previously worked with Eknath Shinde, and we share a good rapport. Congress has given me a lot, but I believe in making decisions that enable effective governance," he added.
With Dhangekar’s exit, Congress faces a setback in Pune politics, as he has been a key leader for the party in the region. His shift to Shiv Sena is expected to have political implications in upcoming elections.
