Pune: Dattatray Gade, the accused in the Swargate rape case, underwent a medical examination that uncovered alarming details. According to the report, Gade attempted to end his life three times before his arrest.
Medical findings confirmed that Gade had rope marks on his neck, supporting claims that he tried to hang himself before being captured. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar also verified the presence of these marks.
Reports indicate that Gade attempted to take his own life in a field but failed when the rope broke. Additionally, when police arrested him, villagers claimed that he was found holding a bottle of pesticide, further suggesting his intent to commit suicide.
Following his arrest, Gade was placed in the custody of Lashkar Police Station, where an initial interrogation is being conducted. High-ranking police officials, including Joint Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma and Deputy Commissioner Smartna Patil, are leading the questioning. He is set to be presented in court soon.
Request for Virtual Court Appearance
In a related development, Pune Police have requested court permission to present Gade via video conferencing instead of in person. The police argued that this measure is necessary to maintain law and order and prevent any potential disruptions. However, the court has not yet ruled on this request, and the decision is awaited.
