Pune, 8th August 2025: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a wide range of infrastructure and safety measures for Pune to meet the demands of its rapidly growing population.
During his visit, he inaugurated one new police station, performed the bhoomipujan (foundation ceremony) for four more, and approved seven additional police stations. He also sanctioned 800 new police personnel to strengthen law enforcement.
In a further expansion, Fadnavis declared the approval of five more police stations and sanctioned 1,000 more staff, along with two new Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) positions. This significant reinforcement of the police force is aimed at improving public safety and managing increasing urban challenges.
To address Pune’s worsening traffic situation, an Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) will be installed at 503 junctions across the city. This system will help simulate traffic patterns, ensure smoother vehicle flow, and enable real-time diversions when necessary.
Fadnavis also announced an upcoming Urban Mobility Plan that will cover Pune city and the PMRDA region, aiming to streamline public transport and urban movement. Simultaneously, a city-wide economic development plan is being drafted in collaboration with NITI Aayog to align Pune’s growth with national development goals.
Speaking on the state’s commitment to Pune’s development, Fadnavis said both he and Ajit Pawar prioritize the city and approve all key proposals without hesitation. He added that with Pawar’s involvement, the financial support required for these projects is well within reach.
Highlighting rising concerns, Fadnavis also mentioned a strong crackdown on drug abuse across urban areas, assuring that all confiscated drugs will be destroyed under tight security measures.
With these initiatives, ranging from law enforcement and traffic control to strategic planning and social safety, Pune is set to be developed as a model for modern, technology-driven urban governance.
